Monoprint Trading Cards

Messy Meter:

With most printmaking techniques, an artist is able to recreate the same print multiple times. However, with a monoprint, the print can be created only once. No two monoprints are the same. Let’s print some one-of-a-kind trading cards that you can share with your family and friends.

WHAT YOU NEED:

* Aluminum foil or plastic wrap

* Masking tape

* 11-by-14-inch sheet of cardboard

* Acrylic or tempera paint

* Paintbrushes

* Three pieces of 2.5-by-3.5-inch mixed media paper (trading cards)

WHAT YOU DO:

1 . Set up your printing station by taping down a piece of aluminum foil to the sheet of cardboard. The foil should be big enough to create a few trading cards.

2 . Paint a colorful design on your surface approximately the size of a trading card. Carefully lay your trading card facedown onto your painted design and press down. Be careful not to smudge it.
